1,270 Omicron cases in India, most in Maharashtra (450); 16,764 fresh COVID-19 cases, 27% higher than yesterday

The number of cases of fast-spreading Omicron variant has risen to 1,270 in India, with 23 states reporting the new Covid-19 strain. Maharashtra continues to be the worst-affected state with 450 cases followed by Delhi, which has 320 infections.
